What's in the download
- roms.zip - all 463 games. Each file has a random number as its name, like 154639885125478.gbc.
- RomRestore.ps1 - a small script that unpacks every game with its real name.
How to get the real game names back
- Download the zip and extract it (right-click > Extract All...).
- Open the extracted folder. Keep roms.zip and RomRestore.ps1 in the same folder.
- Right-click RomRestore.ps1 and choose Run with PowerShell.
- When the window says Done, press Enter to close it.
- Your games are now in the new roms folder, with their real names. Enjoy! You can delete roms.zip now.
Having trouble?
- The script opened in Notepad. That's what double-clicking does on Windows. Close Notepad and use right-click > Run with PowerShell.
- I already extracted roms.zip. No problem - put RomRestore.ps1 in the folder with the numbered files and run it. It renames those too.
- Windows blocked the script. Open PowerShell in that folder and run the command below.
- I'm not on Windows. Open RomRestore.ps1 in any text editor - each line shows a number and the game it belongs to.
Code:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\RomRestore.ps1Playing the games
Use a Game Boy Color emulator such as mGBA, SameBoy, Gambatte or RetroArch (Gambatte, SameBoy or mGBA core). No BIOS file is needed.
