- Guided 4-step wizard — the dashboard walks you through: Setup → Target Drive → Game Library → Launch. The START button unlocks only when everything is ready. Impossible to get lost.
- Fully automatic environment setup — one click provisions WSL2 and a dedicated Debian environment, asks for a Linux username/password once in a normal dialog, and never asks again (passwordless sudo inside the dedicated environment).
- Built-in terminal — the PSBBN installer console runs inside the app in a custom VT100/xterm terminal emulator. Colors, progress bars, interactive menus — no external windows, ever.
- Native Game Selector — when the Game Installer asks which titles to show in your Game Collection, you get a real Windows dialog with checkboxes, a search filter, select all/none, and a live counter. No TUI wrestling.
- Safe drive handling — drive picker with guard rails: 32 GB minimum, wipe confirmation with full drive details, USB thumb drives / SD readers rejected (SATA/IDE drives in USB enclosures fully supported). The app takes the disk offline, attaches it to the toolkit, and always detaches + restores it when you're done — even if you abort.
- Game Library manager — pick any folder on your PC; the app creates the full layout for you (DVD, CD, POPS, APPS, music, movie, photo) and shows exactly where to drop your files.
- ABORT button & Factory Reset — a stuck session can be killed with one click (with automatic drive cleanup), and the About page can reset the whole environment back to zero without touching your game files.

// HOW IT WORKS (THE HONEST VERSION)
The PS2 disk tools (APA partitioning, PFS filesystem, hdl-dump) are Linux software on every platform — even the official Windows launcher runs them in WSL2. This app makes that completely invisible: it provisions and manages the WSL2 environment itself, streams the installer into its built-in terminal, and keeps every interaction native. You never see Linux unless you go looking for it.
// REQUIREMENTS
- Windows 10 (build 19041+) or Windows 11, 64-bit
- CPU virtualization enabled in BIOS (Intel VT-x / AMD SVM) — the app checks this for you
- A drive for your PS2: 32 GB minimum, internal or in a USB enclosure
- For PSBBN: an official Sony Network Adapter on the console (HOSDMenu-only installs work with third-party adapters)
- Internet connection (first-run setup + art downloads)
// QUICK START
- Run PSBBN-Definitive-Installer-Setup-1.0.0.exe and launch the app (UAC prompt is normal — it manages physical drives)
- STEP 1 — press OPEN SETUP → INITIALIZE ENVIRONMENT. Pick a Linux username/password when asked. Grab a coffee.
- STEP 2 — SELECT DRIVE: pick the drive destined for your PS2 and lock it in
- STEP 3 — SELECT FOLDER: choose your library folder, then drop your games into DVD / CD / POPS / APPS and media into music / movie / photo
- STEP 4 — press START ▶ and follow the installer menu right inside the app. When you quit the menu, the app releases the drive — connect it to your PS2 and enjoy!
// ⚠ READ BEFORE YOU FLASH ⚠
- Installing PSBBN or HOSDMenu ERASES the target drive completely. The app makes you confirm the exact drive (model, size, serial) before anything touches it.
- The exe is unsigned — SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info → Run anyway. (Community tool, no code-signing certificate.)
- If Setup says WSL features were just enabled, reboot once and run Setup again — it skips what's already done.
- Drives in cheap USB enclosures sometimes report no serial number — if the installer can't find your drive, connect it directly via SATA or use a better enclosure.

Q: Does this replace the official PSBBN-Launcher-For-Windows.ps1?
A: Yes — it does everything the PowerShell launcher does, plus the guided UI, built-in terminal, native Game Selector and cleanup safety nets.
Q: Do I need to install Linux / WSL myself?
A: No. Step 1 does all of it automatically.
Q: My games/music/photos — do they stay on my PC?
A: Yes, your library folder is never modified beyond creating the subfolders. Installs copy to the PS2 drive.
Q: Can I update the PSBBN toolkit later?
A: Yes — just run Setup again any time; it pulls the latest official toolkit and keeps going.
Q: Something froze / went wrong mid-install?
A: Press the ■ ABORT button — the app kills the session and safely detaches your drive. Worst case, About → Factory Reset gives you a clean slate.
