What is RAA! Trivia?

RAA! Trivia turns your server chat into a game show. Every few minutes a question pops up in chat, four answers appear underneath, and players race to click the right one. The first correct answer wins points, money, XP or items, and climbs the leaderboard.

It ships with 6,200 hand-checked questions: 100 in every one of 62 categories, from Minecraft mobs and redstone to movies, music, sports, science and riddles. Each category has an even mix of Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert questions, plus a fair share of True/False. Every question is family-friendly, and no question or answer is repeated anywhere in the list.

Everything is configurable, every message uses MiniMessage, and every question lives in a plain YAML file. You never have to touch Java to add your own questions.

⏱ Automatic rounds & matches

Automatic rounds on a timer, only when enough players are online
Matches: staff can start a run of several questions with live standings and placement rewards (1st, 2nd, 3rd...)
Themed nights: start a match from a single category or a whole group, like /trivia start group music 10
Smart variety: no question repeats until its category runs out, and random matches spread across categories

Before each automatic round, players vote on the topic by clicking a group in chat
Live vote counts in the sidebar, a closing warning and an action-bar countdown
Ties are drawn at random; if nobody votes, a random group from the ballot is used

☰ Scoreboard, boss bar & effects

Sidebar scoreboard: question number, category, time left, the top players and your own place
Final standings stay up after the round ends
Optional always-on mode shows the leaderboard between rounds
Boss-bar timer, action-bar countdown, titles and sounds, each one switchable
Your other plugins' scoreboards are restored as soon as trivia ends
Folia doesn't support sidebars, so there the sidebar switches off by itself. Everything else works.

★ Rewards, streaks & stats

Reward trivia points, money, XP, items and console commands. Money is paid through RAA! Economy or Vault
Rewards scale by difficulty, can be added per question, and can be set for match placements
Streak bonuses and chat announcements when a player gets on a roll
Stats for points, correct answers, first-place wins, matches won, current streak and best streak
Leaderboard (/trivia top) with an optional daily or weekly reset

⚙ Server-owner friendly

/trivia reload reloads everything. A broken question is skipped, and the console names the file and question ID
Upgrade-safe questions: files you edit are never overwritten, and files you delete are never brought back
Turn off any question or whole category with enabled: false
Players can mute trivia or hide the scoreboard for themselves (the setting is saved)
World whitelist or blacklist
Stats are saved safely with atomic writes and automatic backups
Only the Paper API: no NMS and no reflection
Folia-ready: all scheduling runs on Folia's region and entity schedulers

Every category has 100 questions, split evenly: 25 Easy, 25 Medium, 25 Hard and 25 Expert.

Installation

Drop RAATrivia-1.0.0.jar into your plugins/ folder
Start the server. The console should show RAA! Trivia loaded 62 categories, 6200 questions
Tweak plugins/RAATrivia/config.yml to your liking
Run /trivia reload, and you're done!

Adding Your Own Questions

Each category is one YAML file in plugins/RAATrivia/questions/. Add a question at the end of the file and run /trivia reload:

The plugin also installs HOW-TO-ADD-QUESTIONS.md next to the question files. It is a complete guide with templates and a ready-made prompt, so you can hand it to an AI and generate new categories in minutes.

FAQ

Q: Can players cheat by copying answers from chat?
A: No. Correct answers typed in chat are hidden, each player gets one guess, and the choices are shuffled every time.

Q: Will updating the plugin wipe my custom questions?
A: Never. The plugin only updates bundled files you haven't touched. Your edits are always kept.

Q: Is it safe for younger players?
A: Yes. All 6,200 questions are written to be suitable for all ages.

Q: Do I need Vault?
A: No. Money rewards work with RAA! Economy on its own, or with Vault plus an economy plugin. With neither, money rewards are skipped and everything else still works.

Q: Can I pay money rewards on Folia?
A: Yes, with RAA! Economy. It talks to RAA! Trivia directly and never blocks the server.

Q: Can I run trivia only in certain worlds?
A: Yes. Use the worlds whitelist or blacklist in config.yml.

RAA! Economy support: money rewards are paid through RAA! Economy's own API when it is installed. No Vault needed, it never blocks the server, and it brings money rewards to Folia.
Payments show in RAA! Economy's /transactions as "RAA! Trivia reward".
Vault keeps working exactly as before. Your config, questions and stats carry over.

Folia is now supported. Tested in game on Folia 26.1.2 and 26.2.
Fixed: on Folia, a correct answer didn't end the question, so the timer and hints kept going. The sidebar, which Folia doesn't support, now switches itself off with one console line, and everything else works normally.
Now also tested on Paper and Purpur 26.1.2, alongside 26.2 and 26.3.
No changes for Paper or Purpur servers. Your config, questions and stats carry over.
