Nintendo Entertainment System - RETROâ„¢ - 10-14-2026

What's in the download
  • roms.zip - all 741 games. Each file has a random number as its name, like 154639885125478.nes.
  • RomRestore.ps1 - a small script that unpacks every game with its real name.

How to get the real game names back

  1. Download the zip and extract it (right-click > Extract All...).
  2. Open the extracted folder. Keep roms.zip and RomRestore.ps1 in the same folder.
  3. Right-click RomRestore.ps1 and choose Run with PowerShell.
  4. When the window says Done, press Enter to close it.
  5. Your games are now in the new roms folder, with their real names. Enjoy! You can delete roms.zip now.

Having trouble?
  • The script opened in Notepad. That's what double-clicking does on Windows. Close Notepad and use right-click > Run with PowerShell.
  • I already extracted roms.zip. No problem - put RomRestore.ps1 in the folder with the numbered files and run it. It renames those too.
  • Windows blocked the script. Open PowerShell in that folder and run the command below.
  • I'm not on Windows. Open RomRestore.ps1 in any text editor - each line shows a number and the game it belongs to.

Code:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\RomRestore.ps1

Playing the games
Use an NES emulator such as Mesen, Nestopia, FCEUX or RetroArch (Mesen, Nestopia or FCEUmm core). No BIOS file is needed.
